Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (CACSW)

CALL FOR REPRESENTATION

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: May 10, 2016

COMMITTEE PURPOSE
The Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (CACSW) was established pursuant to direction given in an October 28, 2008 notice from Steve Kang, then UC Merced Chancellor.

The principal purpose of CACSW is to examine issues regarding the status of women staff, students, and faculty at UC Merced; to analyze existing policies, procedures, and/or programs that affect those issues; to identify model programs or activities and support systemwide implementation; to recommend to the Chancellor changes that will continue to afford women equal and fair access to campus programs, activities, and opportunities; and to serve as a member of the Systemwide Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (SACSW).

AVAILABLE POSITIONS
The curriculum includes opportunities for participants to interview campus leaders at four locations and have the opportunity to visit and learn about the institution. The program has been designed to:

1.    Faculty Representative – Chair

2.    Staff Representative – Chair

3.    Staff Assembly Liaison

4.    Secretary/Treasurer

5.    Graduate Student (identified by Graduate Student Association and Appointed Chancellor)

6.    Post-Doctoral Student

7.    Undergraduate Student (identified by Associated Students of UC Merced and Appointed by Chancellor)

8.    Representative, CARE Program (Appointed by Chancellor)

9.    Representative, Women’s Programs (Appointed by Chancellor)

10.  Representative, EEO/AA/Title IX & Accommodations Management (Appointed by Chancellor)

11.  Representative, Academic Personnel Office (Appointed by Chancellor)

12.  Representative, Human Resources (Appointed by Chancellor)

13.  Campus Ombuds (Appointed by Chancellor)

14.  Other members as deemed necessary by the general membership

MEETING SCHEDULE AND TIME COMMITMENT

  • Once-a-month during the academic year for designated officers.
  • Once-a-semester for general membership.

Selection Process for Officers
The Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women will review applicants and forward two to Chancellor Leland who will make the final decision.
